On September 5th, I traveled all the way from Sacramento to Yosemite. It's not that long of a ride, but when you only had four hours of sleep, it gets to you. I woke up at midnight and immediately left. By the time we got to Yosemite, it was about 5AM and I was dead. The car ride was really cold because my dad needed to keep awake to drive and I couldn't sleep well in my annoying car chair. Though the ride was painful, the view and silence was so peaceful. We stopped at Tunnel View and the sunrise was amazing. The sun landed right in the middle and it was breathtaking in person. I think the most disappointing things I saw during the trip was how dried up Mirror Lake was (California drought is obviously the cause and just shows how much we need to get out of this mess we are in) and some pollution in the air. I wouldn't expect to see pollution in a national park and it was just surprising to me. It just shows that we need to reduce car driving in the park and maybe start taking the hybrid buses Yosemite offers to tourists (FOR FREE) or walk/hike everywhere. It would be better for your health and the environment around you.

Pollution is a major factor that is hurting everyone world wide. China has the worst pollution I have ever seen and it is killing about 1.6 million people a year. Pollution from factories that release harmful chemicals in the air kill the ozone layer which causes a hotter earth. That's why the sea levels are rising and why the ice is melting. Pollution is reaching national parks as well. The ozone levels have reached to a point where it can cause health risks. Due to climate change, the weather dynamic in parks are changing which is why a lot of parks in California are catching on fire. If we don't fix the problem now, these national parks won't have clean air for a very long time. All of this is caused by things like cars, power plants, and other hazardous emissions that cause pollution. Our own government is making mistakes too. The United States Environmental Protection Agency recently let pollutants reach the Colorado River. The Colorado River is now this dirty, mustard hue which is taking a tole on the animals that live around the river and possibly the drinking water of the states surrounding the river. We are trying to contain and reduce pollution. It's hard to reduce it because we do it so much. China is testing out artificial intelligence to fight their air pollution. I think we should reduce our carbon footprint as a whole. When we die, I want the next generation to live in a better and cleaner environment. They deserve to see the animals which are slowly dying out because of the pollution happening. It's a right they deserve.
